visual thesis:
a body of work on sensuality and vulnerability
for my visual thesis, i created an ode to the body through painting and ceramics, a veneration of vulnerability meant to inspire the viewer to be vulnerable themselves. through soft bedroom scenes and intimate studies of the body, i drew a line between sensuality and sexuality, pulling my work away from the latter and into the former. the pieces were not about sex, but about emotional intimacy and touch.
though using greek myths of passion as inspiration for some of pieces, by using the recognizable bodies of myself and my partner, the work became rooted in reality and no longer just a trope or an ideal. text was also a key detail, with quotes taken form songs and books, as well as poetry written by my partner.
the question became: how do our bodies carry emotion?
